Telemedicine & Geriatrics in Israel

Telemedicine is a great option for caring for geriatric populations in Israel. This is especially true during the Covid-19 pandemic. Over the years, we’ve had many clients who care for their older, dependent parents. Take our clients, the A family. Mrs. A has been caring for her elderly, frail father for many years.  With no other family in Israel, it is up to her to manage the medical appointments, the full-time aide, the basic care (food, hygiene), and any emergencies.  This responsibility is an honor for her to have, and she does it well… but it has prevented her from having family vacations with her own husband and children for years.

The “sandwich generation,” or the people who are still raising families and care for aging parents, often feel torn by their dual responsibilities. In this case, Mrs. A contacted EMA Care, and through our telemedicine/ ER coverage services, she was able to find the security she needs to go on a well-deserved vacation a few times a year.

Besides people in the sandwich generation, there are tens of thousands of older, English-speaking adults in Israel who continue to have language barriers, difficulty managing their care, lack of support system in Israel, and lack of advocacy during a medical crisis.  Many old adults do not have children in Israel, or their children do not have the time or capability to provide the level of care and support they need.

EMA Care’s telemedicine and ER support program takes care of these needs by being available 24/7 to assist anyone with urgent medical concerns.  Our easy to use App, powered by our partner OneTapCare, helps English-speaking residents evaluate their health concerns and speak to a medical professional 24/7/365.  If an emergency occurs, the app has a button for “Call an Ambulance” to make it easy for people to get help.  In the event of an ER visit, the EMA care team will send a professional health advocate to assist in the ER with advocacy – so patients get the support they need in communicating with doctors, nurses, and family members. The EMA Care program is both affordable and accessible for all English-speaking older adults.

In addition to our geriatric telemedicine program, EMA Care, we can assist older adults who need accompaniment to medical appointments and hospital visits. Our interdisciplinary team can help make sure you have the care you need when you need it.

EMA Care has a well-established 24/7 telemedicine/ER services program that has managed thousands of people to date. This service is ideal for tourists, gap year students, and English-speaking residents in Israel.

Recommended by an Infectious Disease Specialist

My experience with Ema Care has been so positive that I wanted to share it in case it could help someone else. Eight days ago my daughter, a Shanah Bet student, called to say she wasn’t feeling well and had symptoms of Covid-19. I was put in touch with an Infectious Disease specialist who recommended Ema Care. I reached Dr. Eliana Aaron easily and signed my daughter up. The next morning, Ema Care gave my daughter a telehealth exam and provided her with prescriptions, as well as a list of
