Over the past few months, most countries around the world have been closed down due to the Coronavirus outbreak. This means the gyms, pool, parks, and malls have been closed. People are being told to work from home and not leave their homes for non-essential reasons. Many people have found it very difficult to maintain their weight and health during the international pandemic. People can no longer work out at the local gym, go running, go swimming, and people are becoming lazy in their own homes. Many people have found it very hard to maintain a normal weight and healthy eating habits.

Here are some tips for staying healthy while being home:

Dieting – If someone wants to lose weight one of the things they should do is diet. There are many diets out there that are made for different people with different body types. Some diets are easy and some are harder.

  1. Intermittent fasting – Intermittent fasting is the new trendy diet that has become very popular and it can be very effective. This diet is a little simpler because it doesn't tell you what to eat, it tells you when to eat. Intermittent fasting has been shown to have major benefits for insulin resistance and lead to an impressive reduction in blood sugar levels. Between meals, if we don't snack, our insulin levels will go down and our fat cells can release their stored sugar to be used as energy. We lose weight if we let our insulin levels go down. The entire idea of IF is to allow the insulin levels to go down far enough and for long enough that we burn off our fat.

Intermittent fasting has many different levels for different people. Some people fast for 10 hours a day (usually when they are asleep), some people fast 16 hours a day and eat 8. Some people who want to burn fat quicker, fast 18 hours a day and only eat 6. While you might think that this will make you feel weak and hungry this diet has been shown to give you more energy and shrink your stomach. In addition, it is important to drink during the fasting hours. You can drink herbal teas, coffee, and water. There is a lot of research on this topic and its worth looking into. Always consult with you Doctor before starting on this regime.

  1. Low carb diet –

Many people decide to lose weight through reducing the carbs in their diets and eating healthy food. These diets emphasize eating vegetables, protein, and healthy carbs. Healthy carbs include sweet potato, whole wheat rice, quinoa, etc. These carbs make you feel full and are good for you.

Exercising:

Many people rely on gym and classes to exercise. However, this may no longer possible either because these facilities are closed or restricted to a limited number of people or because places with high levels of human traffic are being avoided. So, here are a few alternative options:

  1. Exercise videos –

There are literally thousands of videos on YouTube for exercising at home with no equipment including videos that focus on different parts of the body. So, if you want to focus on an arm workout, then you can just look for exercises for arms. These videos have different levels of difficulty and can be great to do instead of going to the gym. Find one on your comfort level and do it a few times a week and be amazed at the progress you make.

  1. Exercising games –

There are many different games that help you get up and move! For example: video games that are dancing competitions. This is a great way to work out with someone else, compete, and have fun. These video games can also be very effective for losing weight,

With many people struggling to go on their treadmills for a long time because they get bored after a while. So, by using an interactive game that is also fun. You can lose weight easily!

  1. Join online exercise classes –

Due to the Coronavirus, many personal trainers have been out of work and can't have their regular working out classes at the gym. However, now these videos can be accessed online! Many people have signed up to classes online for different exercises (Pilates, Zumba, etc.). So, if you miss your gym classes – look online because there are many other options available.

You don't have to be one of the many people who have gained a lot of weight because of the Coronavirus outbreak. We hope that these tips are helpful for you!!!

Recommended by an Infectious Disease Specialist

My experience with Ema Care has been so positive that I wanted to share it in case it could help someone else. Eight days ago my daughter, a Shanah Bet student, called to say she wasn’t feeling well and had symptoms of Covid-19. I was put in touch with an Infectious Disease specialist who recommended Ema Care. I reached Dr. Eliana Aaron easily and signed my daughter up. The next morning, Ema Care gave my daughter a telehealth exam and provided her with prescriptions, as well as a list of
